Comparison methodology

How COMPR selects a match

Version 1.0 · Updated 8 September 2026

Product-page first

COMPR works from a specific product page. Search results, category pages, social-media pages and map pages are not accepted as product pages.

Identity and variant checks

COMPR uses available signals such as product identifiers, brand, model, product type and important variant details. Conflicting information about matters such as model, size, storage, condition or pack quantity can cause a candidate to be rejected. A candidate is shown only when the available evidence reaches the required confidence.

Coverage and ranking

Coverage depends on searchable public retailer data and does not necessarily include every retailer or offer. COMPR favours product and variant confidence before price. A lower advertised price does not compensate for evidence that the product is different.

Price and availability

Retailer prices, delivery costs, conditions and stock can change between the check and checkout. Always verify these on the retailer website. COMPR is not the seller or a party to the purchase contract.

Commercial influence

COMPR currently does not receive affiliate compensation and does not use sponsored or paid placement in its results. If that changes, commercial relationships and paid prominence must be disclosed clearly rather than blended into ordinary results.

Unsuccessful checks

No-match outcomes, timeouts, provider errors and cached responses are not treated as successful free checks. It is preferable to show no result than an unreliable match.

Questions

For a comparison concern, use the support page and include the retailer URL and what appeared incorrect. Do not send passwords, sign-in links or payment details.
